When the team’s report of events on Vespasia reach Erioch and they are uploaded into the Watchfortress cogitators, a chamber of the Omega Vault opens, prompting an immediate order for the team to return. They are led to the newly opened chamber, sealed by a sand mandala listing the names of the team members. Inside, a broken Eldar spear is found, along with a mural showing those xenos fighting an unknown foe.
In order to learn more about the spear, the team travels to Watchstation Cressid, to speak with the most knowledgable Deathwatch brother on the Eldar, Severin of the Blood Angels.
When the team arrives, they learn that the Watchstation has been taken over by chaos cultists, led by a warband of Emperor’s Children Chaos Marines.
In order to thwart the efforts of the traitors, the team elects to self-destruct the Watchstation and hunt down the fleeing cultists before they are able to escape off-world with a stasis casket that they are carrying. Brother Ulfr heroically sacrifices himself by delivering a recovered vortex grenade, destroying the contents of the stasis casket and swollowing up most of the cultists. Only the Emperor’s Children captain escapes, teleporting to a voidship of Samech pattern in orbit.
Once things settle down, the team is able to speak with Brother Severin, who has been infected with a corrupting chaos virus. He informs the team that the spear is a relic captured from an Eldar warlock named Heigwyn To’keirth, killed during the fighting on Tarsus by the Emperor’s Children Primarch Fulgrim. He tells them that To’keirth has a descendent operating in the Jericho Reach named Heigwyn Asha. Asha is the leader of a splinter sect of Eldar Exodites that call themselves the Redemption.
